Psychiatry

The Department of Psychiatry is one among the earliest centers in the country to provide psychiatric care in the general hospital settings. Other than the routine OP and IP, it also provides 24. Hours  emergency services and runs several specialty clinics such as child guidance clinic,  sexual dysfunction counseling clinic, adolescent counseling clinic,  Lithium clinic and smoke quit clinic and various other psychological therapies. The department has a novel Annapoorna Scheme for giving free food to poor patients admitted in the general ward. The department also runs a de-addiction centre sponsored by the Ministry of social justice and empowerment for- patients with alcohol dependency and drug abuse. The hospital has been credited with giving the first Open Psychiatric Ward in the state.
