HISTORY

The Department of Anatomy at MOSC Medical College was established in 2002 under the guidance of Dr. Leelamma George and Dr. P. Rajarajeshwari. The practical laboratories and the Anatomy Museum were set up through the coordinated efforts of the senior professors and Dr. Nalini, along with the artists and modelers of the department. Their contributions were highly appreciated.

Dr. P. Jacob Abraham, Professor Emeritus, joined the department in the latter half of 2002 and continued working until 2009. He was an excellent teacher and was ably assisted by Assistant Professors Dr. R. Sharada, Dr. Kumar K. V., Dr. Mini Cariappa, Dr. Santos George, and the lecturers.

Dr. G. M. Siddique (2007–2016) joined the department and worked to create innovative working models and specimens to enhance teaching and learning. The department was later headed by Dr. Sandhya Kurup (2009–2024) and supported by Professor Emeritus Dr. Shobha Ramnarayan (2018–2025).

In 2009, MOSC Medical College became affiliated with the Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS). Since then, the Anatomy faculty have consistently maintained high standards of teaching and evaluation to ensure that students are on par with national and international standards.
